~THE PERSON~
Name: Sega Siino
Birthdate: 2/28
Age: 25
Personality:
Sega is a young man of two extremes. First off, he is an able and a very willing worker. He works long hours without complaint. He works well and hard as long as his foreman or supervisors know to leave him to his own devices. One would think that with this sort of work ethic that has him up early in the morning, he would go to bed early at night. Such is not the case. Sega parties as hard as he works. He will go out of his way to have a good time. He has been known to go on binges that will last for days and still arrive on time for work the day on which he is supposed to report. Hung-over for sure, but determined to work and not complain. After all, he has no one to blame for feeling ill than himself. While he doesn't view himself as a womanizer, he will not allow himself to be tied down in any form of a relationship. He does not make any pretense to any of the girls he sleeps with that anything more will ever become of it. So far, none of the woman he has bedded seem to want for anything more anyway. He is quick to close ranks with his fellows against those he considers to be outsiders. He also has a bit of a reputation to jump into bar fights for no apparent reason. There have also been times when he’s started the bar fight for no real reason other than perhaps he was bored. Sega’s sense of humor ranges from slapstick to more sarcastic and dry. For that reason, what Sega considers to be funny, those around him may not.
Self Perception: because you cannot count on anyone but yourself, Sega’s self-confidence is quite high. This does not mean he considers himself perfect. Just the opposite, in fact. Sega knows his short comings and his flaws well and he is not ashamed of them. He has come to accept and embrace most of them. Sega does not look down his nose at anyone. As far as he is concerned everyone is in the same boat. In that boat some people get better oars than others. However, he does not go out of his way to help people on a regular basis. No one will go out of their way to help him. Eye for an eye and all of that, of course.
Mannerisms: Sega is usually a very restless individual. He appears to be happiest moving about. When he is forced to sit still, his feet will tap and he will fidget. He is even a restless sleeper, often tossing and turning. Sega is consumed or even cursed with severe wanderlust. He is rarely content to stay in port for longer than a few months if he can help it. If he cannot find work on a transport, his sisters believe he becomes simply unbearable. The longer he stays in port it seems the more trouble he gets into, the more he drinks, the more intense and twisted his visions are.
Pet Peeves: Those who eavesdrop on others’ conversation despite being known to do so himself (He’s just better at it). He can’t stand when someone attempts to sing a song (particularly a drinking song) out of tune and with the wrong words. He hates pickles and/or nuts in things that do not need pickles/nuts
Hobbies: Someone somewhere taught him how to make small carvings, and he does this in what little spare time he allows himself, wood is a favorite medium when he can get his hands on some. He also knows how to play the harmonica and enjoys doing that, even taking requests. He can sing as well, though he has to be drunk enough to let loose and do so.
Habits: It's always shots before beer and then the hard liquor, and then more shots. He doesn’t push it very often, but if he can get away without paying for drinks or a meal, he will certainly do so. When he fidgets it’s usually with the many steel rings on his fingers, or he worries the lip rings on either side of his lower lip or runs the tongue barbell against the backs of his teeth. He’s a smoker, though he can go days without a cigarette due to being a transport for extended periods of time.
Family: Sega has three sisters, two older and one younger. Each one of them has a different father, though obviously they all share the same mother. They were raised by their maternal grandmother.
~*~ Natalia LaLuna—Mother:
Natalia is about 45 years old, although years of hard living and perhaps karma have not been kind to her. She has long lustrous raven hair that she usually wears up in an attempt to look alluring. However, it always ends up looking ratty and unkempt. She prefers gaudy skimpy tops, heavy eye make-up and heavy jewelry. That with her necklines plunging and her skirt hems rising, Natalia’s overall appearance screams cheap and easy. She has been working the dry docks of the space station since she was a teenager. Having children did nothing to deter her. She handed over her offspring within a week after giving birth. She had at least four children that her mother knows about, however, it is believed by more than just Patricia that Natalia had more than that and all met an untimely and probably grisly fate. Natalia has had little to do with her surviving children, who refer to her by name (all except Genevieve, who refers to her as “That Woman”). Natalia’s relationship to Sega, her only son, is the most warped. When in proximity and apparently drunk, she has been known to attempt to seduce him. When he rejects her, she will fly into a fit of rage and has been forcefully removed from the bar or tavern on more than one occasion.
~*~Saulis Siino—Father(believed deceased):
Very little is known about Saulis Siino. According to Natalia he is nothing more than a set of contradictions. In the same story she will call him a pirate and a privateer. A man of no honor, but who does the most heroic things. Although when she is cursing his name it is with the most distaste, those who listen to her cannot help but wonder if perhaps he had been the only man who had been able to break through to her heart. However, upon finding it a twisted festering organ, he fled her. There is no record of Saulis ever having resided on the space station. The prevailing theory is that he was a pirate who had brief port there where he bedded and somehow won Natalia’s heart. His current whereabouts are unknown and Natalia claims he is dead.
~*~Patricia LaLuna—Grandmother (deceased):
Patricia often lamented what she had done wrong in Natalia’s life for the girl to turn out as she had. Patricia lost her husband and became a widow when Natalia was very young. Patricia tried as hard as she could to do right by her daughter. Patricia never remarried and instead focused on providing for her only child as best she could. She was a hard working woman and later would wonder if perhaps the many days or evenings Natalia spent alone in their modest dwelling was the cause of her obvious unhappiness. Later in life she wondered if maybe she should have remarried to provide a male figure in her daughter’s life and allowed him to take care of them both. Patricia never knew for certain. Still in her early teens, Natalia left her mother’s home. She would go for days or even weeks not seeing her. She only showed up on her mother’s porch when she was hungry and out of money. Then it would only be a couple of days before she would disappear again without so much as a goodbye. Then Natalia showed up at her mother’s porch when she was 17 years old with a week old baby wrapped in a dirty blanket full of holes with the ultimatum that Patricia take the child or else she would be forced to drown it. It was then that Patricia knew she had lost her daughter for good. She took in the child. Three years later the act was repeated. And then again. And then again. Patricia had dedicated herself to raising her grandchildren and providing them with whatever it was that Natalia had missed out on that had caused her to be the wicked sort of woman she was. Though she was not the only maternal presence in his life, Sega was very close to his grandmother. Patricia died at the age of 65.
~*~Genevieve Dorimea—Sister:
Genevieve is the eldest of Natalia’s children. She is 28 years old, but has the personality and mannerisms of a woman far older. She may have been considered quite comely, but she has very little interest in her looks, as she looks like a woman ten years her senior. Her chocolate brown hair is cut short in an A-cut. This gives her face a constant very stern and severe look to her features. She wears a pair of wire framed glasses low on her nose. From an early age, Genevieve seemed to realize that her grandmother needed all the help she could get in order to keep up with three other children. She became a second mother, to Sega and Feemka. She and Zelda often butted heads whenever Genevieve attempted to play Mom to her. She is not necessarily a woman bent on success, however, success does mean a certain level of comfort can be attained and she and her sisters can survive. She has no time for men or flights of fancy concerning love. She is something of a shrew, seemingly accepting the fact-and not even caring-that she will become an old maid long before her time. A bit more authoritarian than her grandmother, she runs a very strict household. Business seems to suit Genevieve quite nicely. She shares the same kind of work ethic of her brother. Genevieve still resides in the modest dwelling her grandmother had along with Zelda. Genieve’s father is Ilias Dorimea, one of the space station’s engineers. The son of a wealthy family, Ilias has gone out of his way to help and provide for Genevieve in both her childhood and her adult life.
~*~Zelda Nuhko—Sister:
Second only to Sega, Zelda is the most brazen and outspoken of the siblings. She is 26 years old and lives with Genevieve as well as is employed in Genevieve’s shop. She has long honey golden blond hair. Its stick-straight and she always either wears it in a braid reaching below her waist, or in a high pony tail with the tresses still reaching her shoulders. She hates the freckles that smatter her arms as well as the bridge of her nose faintly. Zelda has a sarcastic streak in her a mile wide and at times can be scathing in its use. She rarely apologizes for anything. She knows she is a cute girl and she will use this to her advantage when necessary. Because she is a very forceful sort of woman who is not afraid to speak her mind, it is no surprise that Zelda has very few female friends. She would very much like to get married and have a family of her own, however she is usually viewed as “just one of the guys” by many of her male friends. Zelda was a tomboy growing up. She was the most adventurous of the group of boys she ran with. She still has many moments when she is less than famine and is probably the only girl Sega knows who can drink him under the table. A competitive streak is shared by both Zelda and Sega and often the two of them are locked in a battle of wills or who-can-out-do-the-other. Zelda’s father is Samuil Nuhko, a scientist and researcher. Though he knows of Zelda, he refuses to acknowledge her. His son, Effrey, however, is at least civil to Zelda on the rare occasions the two meet.
~*~Feemka Lakitos—Sister:
The youngest of the siblings, Feemka is 21 years old. She too has fair skin. She is the smallest of the siblings, often being mistaken for being much younger than she really is. Having grown up with such powerful personalities around her, it is no wonder that Feemka is a reserved girl with a quiet soft spoken manner. She has a delicate demeanor and abhors arguments or fighting. This is probably why she is the peacekeeper of the siblings, trying to please everyone. When the voices of her sisters reach pitches she can no longer stand, she will lock herself away in her room to lose herself in her books. Her imagination is far reaching. She designed several of Sega’s tattoos and has drawn many other things using several different medians. She has countless sketchpads full of doodles. She has also designed many dresses that Zelda has sewn. The two sisters have sold a few of the dresses and though Feemka has no mind, nor care, for business, Zelda would very much like to sell them full time. Feemka’s father, Pranav Lakitos, is a businessman who has one of his offices on the space station. He is completely unaware of Feemka’s existence and she is far too shy to approach him.
Residence: His home technically is on Colony 4 (the station between the planets Mars and Jupiter, also known as the Belt Outpost) and he always returns there. However, on the colony itself he has no permanent dwelling. Sometimes he stays with his sisters and sometimes he stays with friends. When traveling to other stations or planets, if he is not permitted to stay on the transport vessel while docking, or he has to wait for a different vessel for the return trip, he is often homeless and lives as such.
Occupation: Sega commonly works on various transport vessels, however, he is not a permanent member of any crew. The types of vessels he works on range between long-haul transports as well as shorter trips between neighboring planets. He can be away from the colony from anywhere from 24 hours to a month at a time. Long trips, however, are rare since those usually require vessels and tankards which have permanent crews. His sisters like to joke that Sega always returns to the colony as though there was a magnet in his butt. When he isn’t flying transport gigs, he hires himself out to whoever needs the extra help. Sometimes he works in the cargo areas, sometimes he is hired as a handyman, he’s even been hired by one of the bars as a bouncer.
Social Status: Sega’s inability to save money and how/where he chooses to live mixed with his education makes him poor working class.
Income: Depends on what it is he is doing. Commonly Sega lives hand-to-mouth
Established Connections:
Corsten Vaughn Fenlin: best friend and cohort.
Talents: Sega is a talented musician, particularly with the harmonica. He is also a talented singer, though he will never sing on his own and will have had to have a couple of drinks to get the vocal cords ready. He learns quickly and rarely has to be shown how to do something more than once. Aside from being a bit of a card shark, he can also perform card tricks. He is quite talented with electric work and has a working knowledge of engineering. This makes him rather invaluable on transports.
Strengths: Sega has a very good work ethic and has a strong desire to work (if nothing than to keep from being bored). He wants to learn about the things he does not know or understand if they catch his interest. He is extremely open minded (about certain things). He is loyal to those who have earned his trust. Having worked doing just about anything manual someone can think of, he has a working knowledge of a great many things.
Weaknesses: Sega cannot read due to sever dyslexia which jumbles up letters so severely he cannot decipher the words they create. Sega is one of those types who can act both brashly and hastily. Though he has good common sense, he does not use it often enough. When he has a vision, he is rendered immobile for however long the vision lasts. His visions also at times make him physical ill (see ABILITY below)
~APPEARANCE~
Height: 5'8
Weight: 160
Hair & Eyes: Hair, black; Right eye, green; Left eye, blue
Body Type: Sega’s build is a little on the slight side and if he had not been constantly working he probably would have ended up being scrawny and lanky. However, his hard work has kept his body well toned and his natural slender build keeps him from becoming bulky. He is often mistaken for being weaker than he usually is.
Dress Style: Whatever he can find that is clean and comfortable whether or not it’s his. He is not known for a particular style of dress. What he seems to prefer is loose fitting (though not baggy) denim pants with enough pockets/loops to put various tools or other things he may need at any given time. Loose fitting long-sleeve t-shirts to tighter fitting no-sleeve shirts to even the occasional permanently smut smeared button-up have all been known to adorn him. He commonly wears a pair of dark brown steel toed boots when working. No matter what he’s wearing, he usually has with him a black or red bandana that he’ll wear on his head, or around his arm.
Noticeable Scars or Marks:
~TATTOOS: Sega’s body has apparently become a canvass for his ink addiction. He has a multitude of tattoos on his chest, back, forearms, neck and legs. They range wildly in style, color and meaning. He has never thought of getting a tattoo while drunk, however, he has gotten a few while drunk (this actually isn’t all that uncommon, considering his fear of needles).
~SCARS: Most of these “battle wounds” are work related. Others are results of drunken knock-down bar brawls Sega had either started or had jumped into. The only ones that should be made mention are the ones that appear on his wrists and his forearms. The scars are long, starting at the heel of his palm and traveling both horizontally and one third up both of his arms. They all occurred at the same time and have the look of someone who was slicing at skin in a frantic sort of way. Every now and then Sega will appear with bandages around both wrists covering the scars entirely.
General Description: Though Sega has his mother’s hair color and eyes, she will swear he is the spitting image of his father. This could be why she alternately spurns and lusts after him. Aside from his tattoos, Sega also has a number of piercings. His tongue is pierced and he favors a red balled barbell through it. The corners of his bottom lip are also pierced with smaller tight fitting black rings. These have been known to come out if necessary. He wears a stainless steel ring around each of his fingers, thumbs included.
~CHARACTER~
Biography: Natalia pawned off Sega to Patricia when he was barely three days old. It was Patricia who named him Sega, though the reason for the name has long been forgotten. Natalia had very little to do with her son until he was much older. Throughout his younger childhood years, she seemed more interested in gaining her daughter’s attention than his. Sega does not remember being hurt by this. Patricia was mother enough. Genevieve also acted as a parental figure to not only Sega, but Zelda as well.
Sega was a precocious little boy with an insatiable curiosity and a need to get into the middle of just about everything that captured his interest. His grandmother and sisters were constantly pulling him out of areas or places he should not be in, including restricted areas on the colony. One time, Patricia literally pulled her grandson out of a pipe he had gotten stuck in.
Though Sega was a bright youth, he did not excel in school. Not being able to make the letters on the pages in front of him make sense often frustrated Sega and embarrassed him. As a result he often lashed out at those who teased him for not being able to read. He was often sent home from school due to fighting. When his dyslexia was finally discovered he was given audio lessons rather than reading lessons. By then, however, Sega had lost all interest in school. He decided whatever he needed to learn he would when the need arose. At age 13 he started working full time.
Shortly after Sega turned 14, Patricia took ill. By the end of the month she had succumbed to her illness and died. The evening after her death, Sega’s foresight awakened. His first vision was both traumatic and violent. It caused him to have a temporary break from reality in which he learned of those who had been gifted/cursed with the ability before him. The names of these individuals have been tattooed on the underside of his left forearm in the form of runes. These tattoos appear just above the scars on his wrists that the night left him with. In that break, Sega learned the meaning of having Foresight and what would be in store for him as a bearer of such ability.
Sega appears to be the only one of his family with Foresight. However, very little is known about the paternal side of his lineage so he remains unsure if perhaps he inherited it from his father.
His sisters do not like Sega’s visions and will often ignore him if he attempts to tell them any. Genevieve in particular refuses to even acknowledge that he has the ability, much less that he actually has visions and she will flat out act as though he has said nothing if he even so much as mentions them. Because of his sisters' dislike and even fear, Sega very rarely speaks to them concerning the things he sees.
Shortly after the death of their grandmother, Sega moved out of the home. He started taking on jobs as a transport specialist. He has traveled to every planet in the system at least once, but always returns to the Belt Outpost. His wanderlust still is not satisfied.
Education: Although Sega never went further than a primary education, it appears just by looking at the runes tattooed on his arms, and occasionally the way he speaks, he is far more learned than he is willing to let on.
Beliefs: Sega believes that there is plenty that goes on in the universe that man, no matter what planet he is from, was never meant to understand.
Goals: Aside from the day to day goals of eating, sleeping and getting laid, Sega has no long term goals.
Favorite Food: Just about anything, he really isn’t picky. Really.
Favorite Activity: Cards and Harmonica playing
Favorite Memory: He can’t remember, but he sure it was awesome!
~ABILITY~
Foresight: Sega has the ability to see into the future in the form of visions. However, this ability isn’t as convenient as it sounds. Unlike those claiming to be “psychic”, Sega has no control over the visions he has. He cannot choose what it is he sees, nor can he choose when he sees it. They come to him whenever they choose, whether it be an inappropriate or inopportune time.
Sometimes the visions are extremely clear and precise and other times they are vague, only giving him a foggy glimpse of what is to happen. The visions involve people he either knows or will know soon. They very rarely take place on a planet or station he is not located on at that time. For some reason not even known to him, he is compelled to tell someone of his vision after he has it. Not telling someone results in anxiety or panic attacks that have sent him into hysterics and boarder lining a complete breakdown.
Sega is not entirely sure why he has these visions. Sometimes he is able to change the outcome. Sometimes, however, he is unable to change the outcome and he can do nothing but watch as the event unfolds. He is starting to get a better understanding of the things he can change and the things he cannot.
When he is having a vision, Sega becomes very still. He barely breathes and he starts to sweat. His eyes droop a bit and take on a glassy distant look as though he were daydreaming, or even heavily sedated. Though he has never fallen over, his body does relax and he has been known to drop what is in his hands. His visions have lasted as long as 5 minutes. When he comes back, he is usually panting for air and bathed in sweat. There have been occasions when the vision has been so powerful that it mentally drains him and/or makes him physically sick.
Sega is more than painfully aware of the fate of those with Foresight before him and knows that their curse of insanity is also his.
NOTE: Sega’s visions will either be involved in plots/arcs that Nyanko is directly involved in as Sega, or will be given to her meta game.
